Rock Hill, SC—TSG Advisors – Education continues to attract top talent as Stephanie DiStasio, the former Executive Director of the Division of College & Career Readiness with the South Carolina Department of Education, joins the organization.

A South Carolina native, DiStasio’s impressive career spans over 20 years and illustrates her commitment to creating a better learning environment for students and teachers. She is a seasoned leader in education policy with a proven track record of driving impactful change.

“Stephanie has a distinct advantage, having worked in all levels of the education system, from the schoolhouse to the statehouse,” said Sheela VanHoose, TSG Advisors – Education Managing Principal. “She can see issues from all sides and help navigate industry challenges seamlessly to the benefit of our clients.”

DiStasio has a knack for combining her leadership skills with creativity to produce positive outcomes. During her time working as the Executive Director of the Division of College & Career Readiness with the South Carolina Department of Education, DiStasio pioneered a system of measurable competencies for the profile of the South Carolina graduate, built a wide array of practical tools for educators, and published a flexibility guide and playbook to highlight the possibilities of personalized, competency-based learning for district leaders.

“Stephanie is an energetic communicator and trusted thought partner with a proven ability to turn ideas into action,” said Ellen Weaver, South Carolina State Superintendent of Education. “From her time on the frontlines as a highly effective school leader to strategic implementation of state-level education policy, her student-centered perspective and solutions-oriented approach make her a valuable partner for any team.”

DiStasio’s leadership was evident at the schoolhouse level as well. As a French teacher, she launched a French language immersion program, which is still thriving today, and then served as an Assistant Principal and Principal at Rock Hill Schools in South Carolina.

“Stephanie inspires schools and communities to learn and grow in ways that are meaningful to them while also stimulating deeper, more enriching learning and leadership opportunities,” said Virgel Hammond, CEO of The Aurora Institute.

As a Senior Advisor of K-12 at TSG Advisors – Education, Stephanie aims to leverage her experience and expertise to guide clients through challenges and continue to create positive change in the education industry.
