Engagement Type: Resource Development Strategy

Situation:

Seaside School, Inc., seeking to expand its impact, partnered with TSG Advisors to develop a comprehensive strategy for their Triumph Gulf Coast grant submission. The “Dream Big Walton County: Equipping Young Adults for Any College or Career Path They Choose” initiative aimed to secure funding to equip state-of-the-art STEM and Career and Technical Education (CTE) classrooms. The proposal also included plans to purchase furnishings, acquire advanced equipment, and hire specialized personnel, including CTE specialists, technology experts, success coaches, and enhanced STEM teaching staff. This investment was designed to enhance Seaside’s capacity to deliver comprehensive career and technical training, ultimately benefiting the community and local economy through long-term positive outcomes.

Approach:

TSG Advisors collaborated with Seaside to position the school for success with a highly competitive Triumph Gulf Coast application. The process began with a thorough review of funding opportunity documents and a detailed analysis of Florida’s dual enrollment and early college program requirements, ensuring the project’s alignment with state guidelines.

Working closely with Seaside, TSG Advisors refined key components of the application, including the narrative, budget, and key performance indicators. A detailed logic model was developed to clearly outline the theory of action, demonstrating how proposed activities would lead to measurable outcomes. This strategic and data-driven approach ensured a cohesive and compelling proposal that addressed the goals of the grant program.

Result:

The Triumph Gulf Coast Board unanimously agreed to move forward with term sheet negotiations for a $9.6 million grant award. The grant application received an “A” for economic impact.
